The Crunchbase MCP brings predictive private market intelligence directly into your existing AI workflows. Instead of switching between an AI tool and a separate Crunchbase data source, you can ask natural language questions inside an MCP-compatible client and get answers grounded in real Crunchbase data — not a model's training data or unverified web results — subject to your existing package permissions and compliance controls. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard, now under the Linux Foundation and adopted across the industry; the Crunchbase MCP is our governed, first-party server built on that standard.

It's built for investors and financial analysts doing research, diligence, and sourcing; GTM and sales teams identifying and prioritizing accounts; market researchers and analysts tracking private market trends; and product builders who want to embed private market intelligence directly into their own products.
The Crunchbase API gives you programmatic access to Crunchbase data through defined endpoints and is built for custom integrations. The Crunchbase MCP lets you access that same governed data through natural language questions inside AI tools, and supports multi-step, multi-tool workflows in a single conversation — for example, finding companies, enriching them, and drafting a summary without switching tabs. Both require a Crunchbase package. The MCP changes how you interact with the data and what you can orchestrate around it, not what you're entitled to.
You'll need a Crunchbase account and an MCP-compatible client such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Cursor, or your own AI application. The MCP is separate from the API, so no API key or API package is required. You can connect by logging into your Crunchbase account via OAuth ("Log In with Crunchbase") directly from your AI client. Either way, the data available through the MCP still depends on your existing Crunchbase package, permissions, and enabled data products.
Any MCP-compatible client, including Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Cursor, Azure, and SageMaker, plus custom-built agents or your own product — there's no platform lock-in. Note that the Crunchbase MCP isn't yet listed in every platform's native connector directory, so for now you'll add it as a custom connector using our setup guides.
Access is secured through OAuth login — users sign in with their existing Crunchbase credentials, and only admin-approved seat-holders can connect. For developers and API customers, admins can securely enable access on existing API keys with a single setting, with full visibility into who has access at any time. Access stays governed by your organization's existing license and admin controls, so there's nothing extra to set up or manage.
