Teespring Makes Lucky 13 For a16z And Khosla

Khosla Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz team up for the 13th time today, backing custom apparel crowdfunding platform Teespring in the second sizable funding round raised this year by the three-year-old startup.

Securing the vote of confidence from both of these major players has proven to be a sign of good things to come.

The list of 12 co-investments prior to Teespring includes two successful exits, two unicorn companies, and another handful heading that way with over $50M in venture funding raised.

Teespring is the fourth Y Combinator graduate to make the cut, but only the 3rd startup based outside of the Bay Area.

a16z and Khosla are neck-and-neck on the yearly Investor Leaderboard, with a16z only one deal behind Khosla’s 66 recorded this year. a16z takes the cake with 11 exits recorded this year in comparison to Khosla’s 9.

With both firms already setting yearly records in 2014 for number of investments and venture dollars invested, it will be interesting to see which companies make their way onto the shared deal list in the coming months.
