Feeling Lost? Use Templates from Featured Searches and Lists

Our team compiles Featured Searches and Lists, showcasing some of the amazing ways that our user community leverages Crunchbase data.

Featured Searches & Lists can be helpful templates for you to build your own searches and answer your own questions. Let’s see how to do it.

Pick a Featured List

Start on the Crunchbase homepage and check out the Featured Searches and Lists section, or click the Featured icon on the left rail. Find an example that’s interesting to you, and click to see the results.

In this example, we’ll start with the list of Cleantech companies in the US, and use it as a template to create a list of potential acquisition targets in the space.

While this list as it stands may be interesting to see the full range of companies, it’s too broad to be a target account list. Let’s explore how to narrow the search results to find the best possible targets.

Narrow Down Results

To narrow down our acquisition target list from the 1,242 companies, we add a filter that excludes companies that have IPO’d or have been acquired. Get started by clicking + Add Company filter and selecting Funding -> Funding Status. Use the does not include operator and select IPO, M&A as entries.

Next, let’s assume we only want to look at European companies, rather than US companies. To do this, simply remove the United States field value and type in Europe instead. Click Search to execute.

Save Your Personalized Search

Now that we have a more manageable list of 111 companies that match our criteria, we can Save this search to come back to it for future analysis. Simply click the save icon in the top right corner of the search page.
