CrunchBase is used by millions of consumers, analysts, and investors every month to track what’s happening in the fast-paced world of tech startups, and right now we have the unique opportunity to completely re-imagine the CrunchBase user experience.  We know that an exceptional UX is critical to our success. We’re looking for the passionate User Experience Designer who can reflect our technical transformation in a compelling, engaging, innovative, and enjoyable UX.  Sound exciting? It does to us.

Yeah, we know you can use Photoshop and Illustrator and that you’ve assembled a great portfolio.  Beyond your experience; however, we ask ourselves two questions:

1/ Are you insightful, not just creative?

We want someone who can convey the richness of the CrunchBase dataset in a simple, intuitive manner, that helps people do their jobs and learn about the industry we work in.  Further, we want to create an environment where anyone can contribute without feeling overwhelmed.

2/ Do you fit?

Culture is critically important here. Not only do we need people who can work well in small teams and make that team successful, we also want to make sure that our values mesh. We believe that everyone on the team is working together towards shared goals. We believe in hard work to support each other. We believe in communication and collaboration across the organization (good ideas and criticisms don’t know hierarchy). We don’t believe in blame – we believe in making things work when they break. Finally, we believe in delivering a no-compromises product.

Experience we’d like to see

  • 2+ years experience as a key member of a UI team that successfully launched web and/or mobile applications
  • Experience designing social and/or news interfaces is highly desired.
  • Proficient in delivering efficient UI elements using sprites, asset management, asset packaging, CSS performance.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media Design or other visual arts is preferred.
