CrunchBase Monthly Export – Q3 VC Numbers Are Here

CrunchBase has just released the September data export. Download the file now (for free!), and take a look at all the latest funding and acquisitions in Silicon Valley and the rest of the world. Last quarter, almost a third of funding rounds were to international startups.

The CrunchBase dataset now contains well over 78k funding rounds as the community of contributors to CrunchBase continues to grow. Last quarter, over 9.7k funding rounds were added to the dataset, which is over 2k more than Q3 2013. The dataset now encompasses 627k profiles of companies, people and products.

Highlights of the September 2014 Export include:

    • Y Combinator was the top investor in Q3 with 62 funding rounds, including 3 follow-on rounds over $1M each
    • Austin, Texas was one of the most active investment regions worldwide, tallying 52 rounds last quarter
    • The Tel Aviv region raised over $329M in Q3, ahead of Tokyo, Chicago and Shanghai
    • Education startups raised 59 funding rounds over the last three months, up from 52 in Q2
    • Accel Partners led all investors in Q3 by participating in rounds totalling over $1.8B, ahead of Tiger Global with $1.5B
